Bowman M122DThe refurbed Bowman M122 I purchased from MF. Still needs parts but is there as a complete engine now. Still needs whistle, oilers and 1 bracket, cylinder end cover and front cover, lamp and chimney top.
Wont be steaming it just yet as there a few small issues to iron out. Decal is one of my own - just needs a coat of water-based varnish on top.
Take note the spineless t*rd who still posts messages on my guestbook on my web site. (You'd better pray I dont meet you . . .)
Will post some more pics if peeps want them.

Im going to get a length 3/8" brass tubing for that part SB.Ill sort some pics of the other side. Personally I think this colour way is a little more fetching.

Green varies due to flash settings and aperture.

Fitted a brass tube exhaust pipe to the engine now, connected to the cylinder pipes by a flexible Meccano plastic tube - I heated it in hot water and slid it on, to make a steam tight seal. Another part off the list.

Shortly a new burner will be arriving for this engine, which i hope to steam soon, however I have come across a small problem which will not make it run, too well . . .
Will post some images tonight.

Here are some images from today. I have discovered that the inner most engine frame arm is slightly bent in, so the inner most piston is not smooth running onto the disc crank and is rubbing too hard on the cylinder. I have dismantled the engine frame and gently bent out the offending arm. I narrowed it down to this piston by checking the crankshaft with nothing attached - all smooth, check each piston/cylinder in turn attached to each's respective disc crank. Looking at the images you can se that one is slightly out of alignment, about 2-3mm, enough to cause excessive pressure on the cylinder/piston. I have straightened the frame now and think it will be OK. As you can see MFs M122 burner arrived too, superb workmanship, worthy of any Bowman. I hope to steam this engine at the weekend. Its been nearly a year since I started this project, I sense there may be still a few tantrums with the unit yet! One cylinder was a little too tight for some reason so i have replaced it with a spare from an M135.
Only need two oilers and a chimney cap now!
dismantled side...
Alignment problem is highlighted here...
Fortunately I have a spare piston/cylinder assembly, the trunnion bolt on one is fixed whilst the other is loose, I think these were threaded at each end... (MF?)
The perfect companion to your new MF burner, MF super wick!
Job done!
Re-aligned engine frame. This is a very tough bit of kit, and took some very gentle but firm bending.
The engine frame has been hand painted in red enamel, fortunately all the paint has now dried hard!

I had exactly the same problem with my "Stripped for Racing" M122, cured it in exactly the same way

Had me scratching my head John!
Only when I looked at the engine from above did I notice that something was not right!
