Bowman Book

My copy of "Toy Steam News" arrived today it is excellent as always.  However, having a quick flick through an announcement cought my eye.  Volume 1 of Colin Laker's Bowman book is with the printers and with a bit of luck will be available from July.

The title is "Bowman Steam Toys and Pond Yachts - Book 1" and details will appear on Headley's website in due course.

This book has been a long time coming.

When I last spoke to Colin he said he had best get it published fast as most of the people who have contributed to the book have sadly passed on.

At last, good news indeed.

Great news - I wonder if they take advance orders, like they did with the Harry Potter books.

Very Happy  Laughing

I was lucky enough to have a look through the 2nd proof copy at the weekend. All I can say is wow, this is not some light hearted effort it is a full blow by blow account of GBJ,  his products and his family. I think it is safe to say that no stone has been left unturned.  Books aren't cheap these days but this one certainly offers great value for money, the quality of printing is great and Colin has spent a great deal of time down at the publishers getting it "just right".

Do you know of a rough RRP then, Ian?

Manxman

Not sure... but saying it should be about £40. Book sounds like it will be A4 size and full of pics. A real 'coffee table' edition. Very Happy

£40 isn't excessive, dont see what the secrecy is. Ill be buying one of course!
Manxman

I have to agree. It will be money well spent. I'm in for one. Very Happy

I kinda got the feeling that someone was trying to make a point!
Mamod Collector

Its a big book at nearly 600 pages (Book 1 & Book 2)
I'll be investing in one, and when you compare the price to what Mamod bibles are makeing, they are quite reasonable
The publisher will print details on there website when its available
