Bert and Eddie and Gordon

Ok, I'll be honest from the word go. This is a bit of a plug for a new (to me) company I've found who makes figures for Doll Houses and now..... live steam cars.

And so I introduce you to Lilyelf (Roz and Aidy).

Firstly this is Eddie. He is a 'standard' Lilyelf figure. His head, hands and feet are made in a mould and this helps keep costs down. He is handmade, his clothes are all stitched and he really is excellent quality. I've has Eddie a few months and have wanted to add another figure. Trust me, I've been all over eBay and you'll not find anything this good at this price.

And this is my new figure. He's called Bert and if you visit the Lilyelf web site you may spot that he used to have a job at the Zoo. However, I think he has a real Delivery Driver quality about him and so have added him to my collection

And now for the real special news. I was going to wait to post this because Aidy (making the figure) and Roz (dressing the figure) are in the process of making me something new. However, these figures are so good I wanted to post them now.

However, in the next few weeks I'm going to add a totally original racing car driver to my collection. Roz and Aidy are working on a few pictures of live steam figures from the 1930's and Mamod's own artwork that goes with it's Roadster. If the new figure is anything like the two I already own, it is going to brill.

Just to give you an idea of the quality of Lilyelf figures, the only Live Steam figures currently available (that I know of) are those made by Wilesco. Now these figures have plastic heads, hands and legs and are smaller than ideal for both most cars and even the Wilesco Fire Engine.

If you visit the Lilyelf website, you'll find lots of figures made by Roz and Aidy. It may give you ideas for your own collections. They run an excellent website and I'm sure they will happily discuss making any drivers people may want.

...and a plug well worth making, Chris.

I've added the website to my favourites to refer back to, as once I get back into toy steam I might want some figures for my TE's.

Well, they are quite expensive. You're looking at a figure made with the 'standard' moulds at about £35.00 and more once you get into figures made without moulds.

But a Wilesco Fireman is £25.00 and the diffrence in quality is just amazing. As, I said I've got them making me a Racing car driver for a Mamod Roadster. The figure will cost a bit but I think he'll be worth every penny. Very Happy

They are expensive Chris, but you get what you pay for
And the quality does look so much better than Wilesco's offerings
Could you post a pic of the racing driver figure when you get it please  Smile

Well, just a short update. I've had my latest figures arrive from Lilyelf. Firstly they have a sale on and so I acquired a couple of extra figures at a very low price. These can be added to my growing collection and whilst never going to be a fav, they finish a Mamod limo off very well.

Then I have Bert and he's sitting in my new DV2. Looks just right I think and he would be my fav figure except.....

And here is my new figure, Gordon (after Gordon Bennett). He's been specially made to fit a Mamod Roadster. Nothing much to say except he's brilliantly made and in a couple of weeks I'm thinking I'd like a co-driver to finish the car off.

Excellent Chris, a fine finishing touch to those Mamods.  I particularly like "Gordon", a touch of the "Biggles" about him  Wink
