BEEN THINKING !

hello !! been thinking  Shocked  Very Happy  Ive got 110v transformer  do you think it would be OK to run a d28 which 240volts just to step the power down and make it a bit more controllable ? would it hurt the elements ?

Does the D28 take 240 or 110? it would be better to run it on 110 if its 240, not the other way round ... just in case.

be very careful

If the D28 is 240v and you run it on 110v it will just take a lot longer to get to boiling, by rule of thumb twice as long . If the D28 is 240v then you will find that you mains voltage is somewhat lower maybe 220v or a bit less, if this is the case then it is already being slightly under-run. Hope this helps

thanks for that the d28 is 220 volts !

Worth a go.....what's the rating on your transformer?

My 110v engines will run quite happily on as little as 40v once they're warmed up.....I can slow them down to about 60rpm and then run them for hours before the water runs out.....very hypnotic.
