I only have a pathetic little compressor with no reservoir
and i had 3 attempts at getting the timing right

You seem to have that running like a watch now Dennis, a very fascinating mechanism to see running!
Scorpion2nz
well I must admit I went to work this afternoon rather excited after i had it running
Spokesmann
It runs smoothly, the mechanism works fine - the most important part. The cosmetic stuff can come later and is the easy bit!

You have too much talent for one man Dennis your engine is a real beauty
How long did it take to build, and do you have any of the build photos
John Chapman
That's running very sweetly Dennis, congratulations on a super job.

I started building it mid june .I would get about 1 hour each night and only seem to make 1 piece and being winter it gets to cold in shed so sometimes nothing got done . I spent a lot of time studying pics and words trying to fathom out the missing dimensions. and occasionally .sorry no pics of build
but the upright tube is a piece of bathroom towel rail, the other steel bits are cast steel from a old cambridge roller ring , the brass is bar stock, the axles/pivot pins are meccano as are the bolts and nuts and the flywheel well as you know is the base of a 105mm military shell.
now to pull to bits and finish and polish and mount on a piece of Rimu

That is very impressive, especially the ingenuity/improvisation of materials.

A very smooth and well proportioned engine-you're obviously a man of many talents...well done .
