Another off the wish list.

Just bought this...

Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

Advertised as a model 4097/6 from 1920! The date I doubt but it would be nice to have some confirmation - are you reading this Nick?

A 'big' Marklin's been on the wants list for a while and then I spotted this one last night! I was the only bidder and probably paid too much, $250 (about £165), the opening bid price, but if it's as good as it looks it'll be worth it. It's in Switzerland and therefore outside the EU so heaven only knows what the import duty will be (maybe it'll slip through).

The trouble is that the other and only other item on 2010 wants list is an M122, and there's one coming off at the weekend, so the Marklin's put the kibosh on that prospective aquisition! Still as the last one reached £300+ I wouldn't have got it anyway.  Crying or Very sad

I suppose everyone's seen the SE1?

Nice grab there Stephen, the M122 on the bay just now has been mucked about a bit.

Yes, that might keep the price down!

Price are just silly at the moment, it is definately a forum effect. The prices I have seen this year are just silly. I think that M122 will see close to 160 and its not even a great one - the lamp is a poor repro for a start. There will be plenty more M122s!

Wow Stephen, that one does look great! Cool

It looks very similar to mine (only earlier). I would guess the seller is probably pretty close on the date (Wouldn't it be from somwhere around the '30's?). Mine is a newer model from the '50's, but this looks like an early one. Very Happy

Let me know what the tag says on the firebox door. If it's 6 (6 cm boiler) then it is the same size.

Thanks Nick - your comments make me feel much more positive about it! Do you agree that the model number is correct? I'll check out the firebox door when it all lands. Thanks.
