Price seem again very bouyant with English steam toys getting very good returns. All comes down to how bad you want it and how much hype there has been...

Mind boggling isn't it?

Busy night on OFAS last night with Mr Longbassett's big sale. I would have loved that old Bing pedestal engine but my £64 got swallowed in the last 5 secs by a winning £210, but I reckon it was still a bargain! What about the pre-war SE3 and lineshaft - £635? Is that a record? Was anyone following that SEL lathe the at the weekend? It went out of my range two days before the end!

This is definately the time to sell, but there are still things worth going for, like Willbur's SP the other day. I got some cab bits last night for my Mamod loco build at roughly half the cost of new, and a Fleischmann whistle & safety valve that I needed to complete a refurb.

I think it was JohnO who mentioned that he'd recently re-valued his collection based on current selling prices and was more than happy with the investment.

It's a double-edged sword but at least OFAS is a source of entertainment if nothing else!

The SE3 (pre-war) was about on the money at todays prices, eps with a C2 lineshaft. Its rarer than the SE4 so the price reflected this, not the best of nick, but hey....

The SE3 was interesting I think I paid around £400 for mine
So that would make the line shaft a very expensive item  Shocked
