Your Cresent runs a lot better than mine does Jay

Spokesmann
The Crescent really needs a base.

Love the Empire especially.
The Weeden's nice but of course it would be as it's based on a Bing (biased of course).
The Jap/Taffy engine's...well...er....interesting eh? Just as well you didn't use the burner that came with it, although Mike's a bit braver.
I'm pretty sure that Mike's 'Crescent' is original (no base) but if it was mine I'd be fixing it to something fairly substantial (a piece of concrete maybe?).

Yes that's how they came originally.
Nice to see them running. The boiler on mine is in such poor condition I daren't fire it up.

It's the only Welsh engine ever supplied (and yes I know where they were actually made) - goes with the firey celtic temper, light the blue touch paper and stand well back.

Sorry to contradict you on that one Stephen but you may be interested to know that there was another. A small overtype engine marketed as "a Tubo Product" was actually made in Wales by a company called "Wylie Harris & Co." (There was a short article and a couple of pictures in S.T.E.A.M. issue no.35)
I'd love to add one to my collection, I'll let you know about the second one I see for sale
