Abbey Pumping Station Pool 2009/2010We do not intend to erect the pool for Meccano Day on Sunday 11th January. All those little holes make it very difficult to get things to float. Steam powered Meccano models will be found only on the Beam Floor.
For STIA ( Sunday 1st February) we will fill the pool. Steam powered toy boats are very welcome although my other committments on the day mean that most of my personal fleet will remain ashore.
I hope to fill the pool again and have a play myself for the April Steam and Food Fayre on Sunday April 19th. All forms of floaters are welcome but steam and sail are preferred. Try and ignore the Fayre aspect. Although the Fayre spelling is usually an indicator of something dire in the marketing department we will be steaming the Beam Engine, the railway and sundry other things so all is not lost.
The Urban Steam Rally over the two days of 27/28th June is always a good day and again all forms of boats are welcome. We should have a fair fleet of steam and sailboats in action over the two days. PM me if you are likely to bring something and I will fix the entrance etc.
Our final boating event will be the Steam Seaside Special on Sunday 13th Septemvber when the emphasis will be on the sort of toy sailing boats we used to sail at the seaside. Star, Bowman, Ailsa etc. Not strictly steam toy but it should be fun if the weather is kind.
The mixture for 2010 should be much the same with Meccano Day on 10th January and STIA on 7th February.
I look forward to seeing you all.

If anyone is planning to come to APS for the "Food Fayre" this Sunday be aware that we will NOT have the pool. Apparently the space is needed for the Ice Cream Van
Sorry.
I'm still not sure about the Urban Rally in June, will post when things become clearer. It will definitely be there for the Septemvber steam day and I am hoping to have it up and running for a semi private steam up on the Saturday. A sort of marine version of Mr Bowman's Birthday.
