A few words of wisdomI've been thinking about getting a few loco's and some track for quite a while nowBut this is a new area for me as I know nothing about railways and would like some advice 
Are the ones listed below good items and what would be a good price to pay for them Is it better to stick to a well known brand like Hornby, any advice would be much welcome. Thx

Modern Hornby is very good, some of the older Tri-ang stuff is OK but not for the real detail lovers. Bachmann make superb stuff in my view as do Heljan (both more expensive brands). Then there is old Lima (now bought out by Hornby) which have some nice old stuff too, although the old pancake motors are OK, if somewhat noisy. Wrenn were very good in their day too. Kitmaster are another old firm, long since taken over by Airfix which doesn't make OO stuff anymore. |

I would like to go for quality and detail, and to be honest the only brand I have heard of are Hornby and Triang, any idea of a value for the Hornby in the photo |

Personally I'd say that you'd be best off getting a good Bachmann loco, quality and detail there, there is quite a few on eBay, but it's always worth compariung the price with that of reputable dealers such as The Signal Box www.thesignalbox.co.uk/index_new.php . |
