Group them together, ie put all the German engines on a few pages, group some of the smaller English makes etc, think about structuring the information and plan it out in detail on paper first, so you have a clear idea of how many pages/screen you'll need and what will be contained on each.

Ok will do! I'll do a few drafts on paper and then ask what people think about it

Always work out a clear structure first, esp if you are setting it up for the first time. My site has just grown and grown and is currently 50 pages+ its needs a make over but I'll plan how the information will be structured topic by topic on paper first. I pay for my site so extra pages isn't a problem, but if you have a limit then really think about your content and what is relevant.

Search the web Jim, there are loads of sites outlining basic HTML/web colours and picture formats. I may even let you in on how to to interpolated transparent background gifs!

What I did Jim was to have my main manufactures like
Mamod
Bowman
Wilesco
Meccano
And then I put everything else into one catogory called
Other engines

Excellent, now work out what you want to put under each heading and work out how many pages you'll need for each, plan it out like a sort of story board, screen by screen. When you put it together then you will have a crib sheet to work from and know exactly where you are, annotate each page list with any links you have to build in, in this way you can tick off the pages as you go along.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I shall stick to Freewebs at the moment but may move onto a payed for site. I can get webspace very cheap as a member of my family is a website designed so buys lots of it
