1975 Mamod SE2a with full workshopHere is another Meccano based workshop rebuild. This time I am using the trusty SE2a as the power plant, this is identical to the 1967 SE1 workshop I have already showed. The engine itself was refurbished from a wreck about 18 months ago and is a very willing performer. I have just renewed the overflow plug using a pattern part from MamodParts.com - I have to say they are the best I've seen - better than the Mamod offerings - on a par with Mr Grantham, the don maker of spare parts. This engine is driving a slightly newer set of tools, probably from the late 1960s or 1970s. The lineshaft was another mint and boxed one hanging around the house. I should say that these workshops are costing me an arm and a leg in drive bands! Phil at Forest is my preferred supplier...
This workshop need one more band and a nut on the polisher and will be ready to go... Here are some pictures of the newly reconfigured set up.
Hope you like them - looks like STIA2010 will be fun.
A closer inspection of the tools...
New O/F plug...
The SE2a is a simple willing unit, the forward/reverse is great for these set ups...
