1550 twinJust poped my head around the door to talk to my wife who was watching Flog It and there was a guy brought in a (might have this wrong) Merit 1550 twin ! he had since a boy, it was in fairly good nick but only got £50 for it at auction.

That'll be the SEL Mike and OT have, Randalls who made the SEL brand also owned the Merit brand.

I wish
It's the 2 other Mikes that actually own the 1550 Major, but I've got my eyes peeled for one.
The seller should have ebayed it - a lot of people seem prepared to pay a lot more than £50 for them recently, so I might be in for a long search

I paid ajust over £40 for ny 1550. I'd been watching since last autumn & had seen many fetch £75-95 in varying conditions. Recently they've hopped up a bit in price, hence why i've not bought a 1520 or 1540. I'm not one of those collectors who has to buy the next model that comes up for sale whatever the price. To me waiting & searching is part of the fun of collecting, occasionally you have to push the boat out abit for something special like the 158 that spokes recently bought or my recent 122. There's always another SEL waiting around the corner in good nick, with a box (they come up on ebay all the time)
