13 years around the worldI'm surprised I didn't know about this guy but I found this article this morning and he is truly awesome. He left London in 1994 to travel 46000 miles around the globe on human power alone. This involved using kayaks, mountain bikes, roller blades and his own 8m pedal boat. He has both his legs, been attacked by monkeys, robbers and crocodiles.
He arrived in Australia in 2001 and then took a 2 year break to work in America on a buffalo ranch to raise funds for the home trip. In 2003 he returned to Australia to complete the journey and is now nearing the finish back in London.
He left at 24 and will finish this achievement at 37. It's such a vast amount of time to dedicate to a massive task and he has earned my respect. His next challenge is surely integrating back into society. He's spent such a long time away, working hard on a single task every day and now he'll be without anything to do. Personally, I think he'll set himself a new task.

It doesn't surprise me that an achievment like this goes relatively unoticed on tv & radio. The great unwashed only seem to care about pampered, drug fuelled ''heroes'' such as miming pop stars & talentless soap actors.
