One of my current projects, is modifying a Mamod MEC1 to have a double acting piston and cylinder arrangement from a Mamod loco.

The project is still on its infancy as yet but I have acquired most of the parts. I managed to get a solid but tatty MEC1 from my friend Liam, who made a MECTwin a while ago, and a brand new loco cylinder from a supplier at a very keen price. Whilst we were in town today getting some errands done, I popped into the model shop and bought some 1/8" and 5/32 pipe. It's not cheaper than online but I can pick it up at my convenience.

The picture below shows the donor engine after a test run with borrowed safety valve and burner from my SR1a thanks t is awaiting a new Flywheel.

More as soon as the parts arrive and I can make a start.

Made some progress tonight, got the MEC1 stripped down, and the cylinder trial fitted. I've had to add quite a large washer to get the crank pin to clear through the big end hole. Luckily it was long enough and is still well in the Flywheel.

Obviously the bolts need cutting down! I think I've sussed out the pipework, I'll anneal the pipe at work tomorrow morning.
