How many of us like to keep our engines in their original condition a quick wipe with an oily cloth and they come back to life. Very Happy

A lot of mine are original and i have done just that - oily rag. Sadly some still persist in polishing the living life out of them...

An engine is original once. Dont get me started on 'restos'!!

Can of worms springs to mind.

Hi Mike I was once one of those guys who would restore and polish an engine but for some reason I now like my engines looking original and in playworthy condition. Very Happy

Its the best way forward! Perhaps a thread on totally original engines would be nice...

Virtually all my engines are 100% original. I don't mind a bit of rust (oily rag solves that) and I actually like my engines show their age.

I'm also guilty of the odd restoration/oily rag treatment of a steam engine
But try to be as sympathetic as possible, here are a couple of my recent clean ups, before and afters
